There are several ways to capture CO2:
The method, developed since 2013 by D&D Consulting, is innovative and unique in its kind.
Using the natural mechanism of the brackish water of the lagoons managed by man (fishing valleys) the atmospheric CO2 is absorbed and transferred into the underwater photosynthetic systems (algae and aquatic plants) which collect and store it, naturally and without any mechanical artifice, in the muddy underground. This is a natural process that is favored and amplified by the traditional and historical type of activity of this type of brackish lagoon activity which, since 1500, has implied a sustainable and optimal environmental management for the capture of carbon dioxide. By comparison, the part of the lagoon not managed by man has important fluctuations in its absorption and emission (concept of environmental additionality).
The Human Controlled Wetland has also historically been involved in the production of a quality fish product. The product can now be certified as ORGANIC. It is only thanks to the economic contribution due to the sale of voluntary VER carbon credits, according to the recognized method of the Carbon Offset, that these particular and unique agricultural companies can maintain the environment, help local employment and improve neighboring air (concept of economic additionality).
Satellite analysis
The D&D technicians identify the area indicated for the generation of credits and "control" it for the main indicators of carbon capture activity, such as the presence of algae, aquatic or terrestrial plants, microalgae, production activities primary etc. High resolution (40cm) satellite images are used and analyzed with powerful software.
Soil analysis
After having analyzed the area using the satellite, the positions of the analytical stations (analysis areas) are identified and the on-site interventions (seasonal or periodic) are planned in relation to the type of area.
Samples of seabed (or soil), algae and water are taken. These are analyzed in your own laboratory and the results compared with similar analyzes obtained in an accredited laboratory.
Environmental dataloggers
To ensure a continuous and effective control of the area and in relation to the size of the area, our experts in electronics prepare "ad hoc" data loggers to be positioned above the "wet" area. These instruments record, at least twice a day, the main parameters necessary for control and store them on the cloud so that they can be easily consulted.
Drafting of the technical document
At the end of this path, a technical document is drawn up that follows the standard VCS guidelines, of the BNEUTRAL standard (BIOS srl) and of the PdR UNI 99: 2020 which regulates the voluntary certification regarding the calculation, reduction and compensation of gas emissions greenhouse of organizations and products and the generation of carbon credits.
Generating carbon credits, through projects created and monitored with transparent and verifiable rules, means for the organization:
• bring a climate benefit to the environment;
• ensure additional economic income;
• improve corporate environmental management;
• improve its image on the market;
• increase its competitiveness.
